PHP2Shell: A Critical Vulnerability Puts Websites at Risk. Our Servers Are Already Updated.

Website security cannot wait. We acted immediately.

A serious security vulnerability affecting PHP, one of the most widely used technologies for building websites and online applications, has recently been disclosed. This includes many WordPress websites and e-commerce platforms.

Known as PHP2Shell, and tracked as CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, this vulnerability is particularly concerning because it may allow an attacker to execute code remotely on a vulnerable server, without authentication.

Potential consequences include server compromise, unauthorized access to confidential information, and risks to data handled by hosted applications.

What Is PHP2Shell, and Why Does It Matter?

PHP2Shell is not simply a security issue affecting a plugin or a theme. It affects the PHP runtime itself.

This means that even a website that appears to be fully updated, whether built with WordPress or another platform, may be exposed if its underlying PHP environment has not been properly patched.

For this reason, updating WordPress, plugins, or themes alone is not enough. The PHP version actually used by the website must be checked, and the appropriate security updates must be applied to the server environment.

The Servers We Manage Have Already Been Updated

We take the security of our clients’ websites seriously and understand the importance of acting quickly when critical vulnerabilities are disclosed.

As soon as the official security patches were released, we updated the affected servers, addressing the PHP2Shell vulnerabilities and reducing exposure to the associated risks.

Clients who rely on us to manage their hosting can therefore benefit from a prompt response, without having to wait for a problem to be reported or for its consequences to become apparent.

Applying security patches is a fundamental step, but it does not provide an absolute guarantee of security. Overall protection also depends on the condition of the applications, server configuration, and whether any previous compromise has occurred.

Is Your Website Protected?

If your website is hosted by another provider, if you manage your own server, or if you are unsure which PHP version is currently running, checking your setup is essential.

A website can continue to work normally even when it contains a security vulnerability. The absence of visible errors or unusual behaviour is therefore not enough to rule out a problem.

A security check should include, at a minimum:

  • The PHP version actually running your website.
  • Whether the required security patches have been applied.
  • The configuration of your hosting environment and PHP services.
  • Any additional checks required based on the system’s exposure.
